The House That LOVE Built

We have now been in our house for a little under a week. Things are coming together. Grayson had a really hard time the first two nights in a new house and room, but he quickly got used to things and is now loving having his own room. Grant was so excited from day one, to be in his own room. He loves it and keeps asking when he will get to paint his walls. Grant started school on Wednesday and he is absolutely loving it. His teacher is amazing, he has made lots of new friends already, and he loves walking to school. I love that I can watch him walk to school right out the back window! He has met a little girl that he can not stop talking about. Each day the two of them come walking home together just giggling!! It is so cute and it makes me so happy!! He does miss some of his friends from his other school, but he is adjusting so well. We still have a few boxes to unpack, but for the most part things are in their places. Now I just have to decorate and make it HOME!!

When we started this whole building a house process my mom told me that buying a house would be one of the most challenging things we would do. Up until this last week I thought she was crazy, but as always she was RIGHT!! We really enjoyed working with Ivory! They have been so great throughout the entire process. EVERY person we worked with at Ivory went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with everything. Other than the little mix up with the granite (which they were quick to fix) everything went unbeleivably smooth. Until this last week. My hubby used to work for a mortgage company, he knows what he is doing and talking about. So he dealt with all of that. All I know is, we are supposed to be out of our house by today Dec 1, 2011, we were supposed to close on the house on Tuesday and the closing just kept getting pushed back for various reasons. So here we are Thursday night at 7:00 PM signing docs. We will have the keys tomorrow and will begin moving everything in. The landlord is giving us a few extra days (which we are paying dearly for) and we have to be out by Sunday Dec 4, 2011. This last week has been a whirlwind of emotion and stress. Very overwhelming and trying, but as always Jared came through and got the job done!
It still doesnt seem real that we just bought a house, but I am sure once we are settled in it will be real and amazing!!!
Here is Jared signing his life away!!

Boys bathroom
Cute boys taking a tubby in their coats!!
Wrong granite
Right granite
We were kind of being rushed when we were at the house to get these pictures, so I wasnt able to get very good pictures. But I think there is a distinct difference between the two. I will get better pictures later.
They have painted the front door. It's black!!

I went yesterday to pick out our granite slabs. And here it is!
And here is a closer look. The stone is called St. Cecilia
We have carpet!!
And appliances!
I love this fridge!
This is the boys bathroom. We went with solid surface in here and I think it will be nice and easier to keep clean. The white streaks you can see are not really going to be there. They just havent cleaned it yet.
It was so nice to be able to put Grayson down and let him just crawl around the house. Up until now it has been so super dirty in there we didnt put him down at all. He went right for the stairs, crawled all the way to the top and headed right for his room. So funny! The boys LOVE the house already!!
Can you tell! Grant likes to just hang out in "his very own room"
They also got the glass in the shower!
Not much left to do.

The fireplace is now in working condition!!!
They installed granite, but it is not the right granite. So they are going to have to rip it out and replace it.
The granite we picked out is much more beige with some brown and specks of black. This one however is WHITE with black and silver specks. It really does not look good with the cabinets and the tile.
We have sinks and faucets in the kitchen and all the bathrooms!
And we have toilets and all the plumbing is done.
We also have railings! They still need to do the railings going down the steps.

A friend of mine mentioned to me that I have not shared any of the details of the the house, so I thought I would. I have posted the layout of the house, but in these pictures it is backwards. So just imagine it flipped.
Two-story home in the East Lake community of Daybreak
Total Sq ft 3120
Finished Sq ft 2017
3 bdr
2.5 bath
This is the basement. The future family room is actually Jared's future man cave! The future bedroom and storage room right next to it will actually be my future craft room. We asked them not to put a wall between the two, which makes my craft room pretty big!! I am going to be in Heaven!!
Main floor. Our porch actually spans the entire front of the house. The living room we will be using as an office.
Upper. The master bedroom is obviously ours. Bedroom 2 is Grayson's, it is a little smaller than Grant's and has a smaller closet. Bedroom 3 is Grant's room, he loves the big windows right in the front of the house and the big closet. And their bathroom is right between their rooms.

Little details
It is really getting down to the wire. There is not a whole lot left to do. So here are some of the little details they have been working on getting done.
Counter tops and hardware in the bathrooms
All the electrical and lighting is done. This is in the dining room
This is in the entry way.
They have the hardware on the cabinets.
All the paint is done. This is one of my fave parts of the house!
We have got door knobs, which means that soon we will be locked out. The door will not be white, it just isnt painted yet.
We have an address!!
All the trim is done and we now have rain gutters as well!
We talked to the superintendent and he said we should have our granite by tomorrow or Friday.
